Helicopter Wreck Found Already

The wreck of type Bell 412 helicopter owned by PT Comfort Air leased mining company PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals and falls in between the mountain Brothers, Bitung, North Sulawesi, on Wednesday (03/08/2011) afternoon, has been found.

IX Regional Rescue Coordinator Basarnas Manado George Meci Randang said helicopter smashed into pieces and scattered across multiple locations which is located quite far apart. Helicopter crash site was discovered sar team as much at 0:44 pm, Thursday (04/08/2011) morning at Mount Two Brothers.

Aircraft berpenumpang four Australian citizens and four citizens of Indonesia as well as 2 person crew were reported to the control tower lost contact at 14:26 PST or three minutes after takeoff at 14:23 AM from Sam Ratulangi Airport, Manado. The helicopter had been due to fly to Gosowong, North Halmahera.

Previous team sar from Manado Basarnas assisted the Army and Air Force to focus the search on Mount Two Brothers, Bitung. Search was hampered because of the location field in the mountains were covered smog.

As for the victims of the crash were Capt. Edy Purnomo (Indonesia / crew), Humaidi (Indonesia / engineer), Roe Nawawi (Indonesia), Rian Forest Rudyansah (Indonesia), Zainuddin Ahmad (Indonesia), Joshua Wilson (Indonesia), Barry Tommilson (Australia ), Adrian Bird (Australia), Reoloft Roodt (Australia), and Dion Renie (Australia).
